Hollow Tree Books asked for a cover that would work on a shelf full of loud, glittery spines. We went the other way: one cat, one beam of light and a lot of quiet blue.
The brief was three words long: warm, brave, bedtime. The cat sits where a child's eye lands first, and the beam leads it round to the title space. Two roughs, one round of colour, done in three weeks.
